Virender Sehwag - 100 off 60 balls - India vs New Zealand at Hamilton 2009

He came to New Zealand with an awesome reputation and opposition captain Daniel Vettori spoke of how scary a thought it was having to encounter Sehwag (seen here) on the small grounds in the country.
With scores of 77 (off 56 balls) and 54 (off 36 balls) in the first two ODIs, Sehwag had done his reputation no harm. But not even the most enthusiastic Sehwag fan could have bargained for the entertainment he provided.
With New Zealand having led off with 270 for five in 47 overs and India’s target revised to 281 from the same number of overs according to Duckworth/Lewis it was not an easy task. But then with Sehwag on song any target is gettable. He sizzled even as the match was being interrupted frequently by rain and there was no let-up in his astonishing onslaught on the bowlers.
The target kept changing due to the interruptions but all this mattered little to Sehwag who reached his half century off 31 balls with eight fours and a six. His trusted partner Gautam Gambhir was happy to play second fiddle as Sehwag blazed forth with inimitable strokes.
Sehwag reached his hundred with his fourth six off just 60 balls to set the record of fastest hundred by an Indian in ODIs (he also hit 13 fours) and continued to sail along merrily till the final interruption.
